Google Earth Timelapse

Timelapse is a Google Earth Engine project that lets you see how the Earth has changed over the last 35 years. It does this with a timelapse video (see below).  From Surface Temperatures to the fires of California, this amazing Global tool can be use in nearly all content areas for students. It's an invaluable tool to study environment and climate changes and much more.

Google Classroom Activity

Earth Voyager

Google Earth's new Voyager feature is a visual storytelling application. Students can explore landmarks in 3D, then swap to street view the world from a new point of view.   Voyager brings you one-of-a-kind stories and associated classroom activities from partners like National Geographic, PBS, and more.
There are Games, Layers, Nature, Culture, Travel, and Education. Each section allows students to participate in an engaging activity.
Voyager currently has more than 50 stories, and more will be added weekly.

Games

Where on Google Earth is Carmen Sandiego?

Voyager comes with some fun and interesting games. Remember this one? Carmen has stolen the Crown Jewels of England, and who doesn't love a good necklace? In order to determine where she went next, players must travel to popular London landmarks, gathering clues from witnesses. When a landmark is selected, the Google Earth spins you to that location, rendering it as a basic 3D model. It's pretty awesome!
Three clues hint at your next location. Hitting the airplane icon offers up a multiple choice selection of destinations. Choose the right one and a quick pixelated cutscene will play before clue gathering begins anew. Choose incorrectly, and the residents of the next town will tell you to try again.
